WHY THIS TASK NEEDS DECISIONS

See where to plan height, glides and heading changes

Before takeoff, review the key points derived from the FPL, AA3 terrain and recorded weather. All guidance is computed without AI.

Measured data and rules are separated from assumptions. No guaranteed thermals or optimal route.

Decision-point map

Select a number on the map or use the buttons. Pan and zoom remain as you set them when changing decisions.

Straight lines connect FPL points; they are not safe or optimal computed routes.

Verified 2.5D altitude corridor

Runs the exact corridor engine from the Task module when available; may return UNKNOWN if critical inputs are missing.

FPL terrain profile by leg (not a proven 2.5D corridor)

Decision places — maps and guidance

Rule-based coaching in STANDARD: FPL and sampled terrain only, without AI.

Important limitations

PRE-FLIGHT · FPL / lift potential

Map layers

Hover over the straight FPL line to inspect sampled terrain and lift potential. Click the line to select a segment.

Reading the lift potential profile

Nearby samples with similar lift potential are grouped. Region width reflects distance in kilometres. Only persistent, substantial contrasts are separated; these are not detected thermals.

Higher-potential region

Potentially more promising terrain. Check sun exposure, wind and altitude.

Lower-potential region

Lower terrain score; not proof of absent lift or an unsafe route. Keep a fallback plan.

Weather and zones still matter

Clouds, inversion, wind and timing may outweigh the terrain indicator.

Select a region to highlight its exact stretch on the map; its width reflects the mapped distance.

Technical details (optional)

Three AA3.tm3 channels: R thermal/albedo; G alpiness; B convexity. Experimental 65/20/15 model. Raw channels 0–255 are not climb rates.
